What is a Flash banner?
Flash is a sophisticated animation program that allows for greater creative possibilities. Flash banners appear like mini movies and deliver a strong branding message to the Consumer. What is an Animated Gif Banner?
An Animated GIF gives the appearance of movement by rotating through a series of simple static images or “frames”. If you’re not sure if a banner is an Animated Gif, right click on the banner and if you have the option to save it then it’s an Animated GIF.
I really want my banners to stand out, what should I put in them?
Identify a focus for your banners ie. do you want to increase visibility in the market place, drive traffic to your site or perhaps introduce the sales team? Tailor the text to your focus and choose images that are interesting and compliment the text. Remember the secret to successful banner ads is keeping it simple but creative. There’s only a split second to grab the Consumer’s attention, you want to entice the Consumer and get your message across before they move on.
How many messages can I have?
Be simple but creative, it’s best not to get bogged down with too many messages. It’s also a good idea to include your website and a call to action eg. ‘click here’. 3 messages of around 7 words is recommended.
How many photos should I use?
When it comes to photos, less is definitely more. Banners cope with only a limited number of images before they start to pixalate (become dull/blotchy). Ideally 3-4 photos in Flash banners and 1-2 in Animated Gif banners.
